Financial Literacy Program - SMS

• MIU SMS – MIU Stock Market Simulation
• How to be financially smart

Project Objective: To teach university delegates the importance of acquiring financial management skills, the impact of their financial investment decisions on their lives and the different sources of financing available to them. In addition, they learn how to be financially smart through a simulation that combines practical and theoretical dimensions to ensure their full understanding and application of theories.

Project overview:

• 425 (85%) of delegates became fully aware of all terms, institutions, laws and regulations of the Stock Market. They became aware of the history of the Stock Market whether locally or internationally and started reviewing and following up the Stock Market news on a daily basis.

• They became financially literate, understood much more about the spending and saving techniques, how to weigh risk versus benefit and how to manage financial crisis. 10% of the stock market simulation delegates started investing real money in the stock market.

Achievements:
In the simulation, we managed to teach and embed all of the above via the Stock Market Simulation that was held on MIU campus for four days. The simulation was aimed at providing the students with a very near-life experience in addition to all the theoretical and historical facts needed and supported by the real life experiences of people who are highly involved in the stock market. The software designed resembles the real Stock market managed to engage the participants to get them involved in the form of 4 different roles to make sure everyone finds something he/she likes. The four roles were: investors, bankers, mutual funds and brokers.
